সৈয়দ শামসুল হক Syed Shamsul Haq (1935) is a most prolific and versatile writer of Bangladesh. He writes poetry, plays, novels and essays. Since 1954 he has published twenty seven volumes of poetry, sixteen plays (including seven verse-plays), nine novels, fifty seven novellas, six collections of short stories. Among his major works are : Anupam Din, Khelaram Khele Ja, Nishiddha Loban, Ek Jubakar Chhayapath, Neel Dangshan, Brishti O Bidroheegan (Fiction); Rajnoitik Kavita, Nabhimule Bhashmadhar, Poraner Gohin Bhitor (Poetry); Payer Awaj Pawa Jai, Nurul Diner Shara Jibon, Earsha (Plays). For his contribution to Bangla literature as a litterateur Syed Haq has been honoured with Bangla Academy Literary Award, Adamjee Literary Award, Alakto Gold Medal, Swadhinata Padak and Ekushey Padak, among others.
